POSITION PURPOSE:
The Front Office Support Specialist is responsible for managing all customers (both internal and external) who present themselves at the school’s front office. This includes providing information and directing customers to other appropriate offices, announcing their arrival to administrators and applicable staff, and overseeing the sign-in/sign-out sheet. Office Support Staff will greet and interact with visitors to the school positively and professionally, including in person, on the phone, and in writing. The Front office support specialist will also provide general clerical support to the school office staff and assigned administrators. Establishing effective communication between home and school including families and improving community outreach and training opportunities for families of students in grades 1st through 3rd grade attending camp is a critical component for success.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate in English, Spanish, and/or French fluently speaking and in writing.
- Ability to collaborate with school administrators, counselors, social workers, and teachers providing the education and safety of the students and families.
- Able to carry out student support programming through the use of educational sound methods and skills
- Knowledge of parent-involving strategies to engage parents in support of student interventions
- Knowledge of community resources available for families.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Interpreter/ translator certification in Spanish
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in linking programs and services with the school to improve school attendance, student performance, and positive youth development
- Build rapport with families to encourage trust and relationships to serve as an encourager, mentor, and bridge to school success from preschool through graduation
- Provide information to families about district and school procedures and instructional programs as well as resources available throughout the school system and community
- Collaborate with the Family Outreach Coordinator doing translations for their school site
- Perform other duties as needed
